Lash extensions are used to accentuate the eyes by adding thickness, increasing length and creating volume to the natural lash line. Our expansive selection gives variety in materials, lengths, colors and curl formations. Options will be discussed during your initial consultation and selected based upon the look you’d like to achieve.
Applying a full set of eyelash extensions normally takes about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hrs. depending on the service requested, touch-up appointments lasting about 45-75 minutes. Your new lashes can be maintained year-round with touch-ups (or fills) recommended every two to three weeks.
We suggest lash maintenance every two to three weeks to maintain a full look. The average fill appointment takes about one hour, although appointment time may vary based on the natural lash cycle, medications, vitamins, products used with oils and continued aftercare. If you go past the 4 week mark, please schedule an appointment for a full set of lashes.
Since each lash extension is attached to a single eyelash, they will fall out naturally along with the natural growth cycle of each natural lash. When an inexperienced professional applies lashes, he or she often applies one eyelash extension to three or four natural lashes, causing clumps or the lash to break and fall out. In addition, your lashes might fall out if you pick at them or try to pull them out yourself, which is a big no-no. Avoiding these concerns, your lashes will remain intact during the entire growth cycle.
Avoid all water contact for the first 24 hours after your initial set and after fills. Avoid moisture saturation (saunas, hot tubs and perspiration) for the first 48 hours. Water and moisture can weaken the curing time of the adhesive before it is set and cause lashes to fall off prematurely. During the life of your eyelash extensions, avoid direct water pressure on the eye area.
We strongly advise against wearing mascara. In the event you do apply mascara, use non-waterproof and please use only on the tips of the extensions with a very light hand. Using mascara at the base of the extensions will get very clumpy. Eye shadow in powder form is recommended as cream shadows contain oils. Please do not tint or curl your lash extensions. Avoid using the high heat setting near your lashes while blow drying your hair. This will surely make them gnarly and no one wants gnarly, twisted lashes!
A small make-up brush and a solution of ¼ baby shampoo and ¾ distilled water ( in small foam bottle) should be used for daily cleaning of the lashes and lash line. Blot gently after washing and rinsing or use a blow dryer on a cool setting. Be sure to clean daily for maximum adhesion.
The biggest myth is that lash extensions ruin your own lashes. They do not. If applied correctly and properly, they are very safe and will not ruin the health of your natural lashes.
Multiple factors can play into an allergic reaction and, although a rarity, they can occur. A patch test is always recommended if you have never worn extensions or if it has been over 6 months since you last had them applied. If you are allergic to certain ingredients, make sure to run this by your lash expert during your initial consultation. People with allergies such as hay fever, which involves constant eye rubbing, may not be best suited for eyelash extensions during season.
Flush and cleanse the eye area, schedule an immediate removal. Seek physician advise if problems persist.
Because of the sensitive nature of the lashes and the surrounding eye area, finding someone who is a licensed cosmetologist or esthetician is of utmost importance. We have been properly trained to care for you, and most importantly, your eyes! Always ask to see proper credentials. At Central Park Lash these credentials are properly displayed in our salon.
